Kriya Yoga as taught by Lahiri Mahasaya
Kriya Yoga is an ancient system, the origin of which goes back to the age of Mahabharat. It is a well known fact that Lord Krishna himself refers to the science of Kriya Yoga in Bhagavat Gita.
The ancient practice of Kriya Yoga which was lost in due course of time was revived once again in the modern world, by Lahiri Mahasaya (Yogiraj Shyama Charan Lahiri) who is a direct disciple of Sri Sri Mahavatar Babaji. Kriya Yoga as taught by Lahiri Mahasaya is strictly learnt through Guru-Disciple tradition with the secrecy of the process being well maintained.
Lahiri Mahayasaya (Yogiraj Shyama Charan Lahiri) initiated Sri Tinkori Lahiri, Sri Yukteshwar Giri, Sri Panchanon Bhattacharya, Swami Pranabananda, Swami Kebalananda, Swami Keshabananda, Bhupendranath Sanyal into Kriya Yoga and many other people, who were truly interested in spiritual upliftment. It is through the instrumentality of Lahiri Mahasaya that ancient Kriya Yoga was revived once again in 19th century.

In olden days, there were only very few people who knew about Kriya Yoga. The Kriyavans(one who practices Kriya) even when they lived among common men, maintained the secrecy of the sacred process and the practices so well that even their close friends/relatives would not know that they are kriyavans. Infact, as given by Swami Yoganandha in his “Autobuography of a Yogi”, he himself was not aware that his Guru Sri Yukteshwar Giri was a Kriya Yogi when he met him first. He came to know about it when he saw Lahiri Mahasaya’s picture in Sri Yukteshwar Giri’s room.
This ancient practice was brought to limelight throughout the world by Paramahansa Yogananda through his book “Autobiography of a Yogi”.
Kriya Yoga is the science of breath control through which the kriyavan can control the life force energy (prana) and stay in the “BEING” (detached completely from mind) state all the time. In such a state, he lives as per the universal command and is not attached with any karma. Surely, Kriya Yoga is a shortcut path to the ultimate goal. And as mentioned by Swami Yoganandha, it works like mathematics. So, it cannot fail.
Sri Madabusi Subramaniam was initiated into Kriya Yoga by Sri Satya Charan Lahiri who is the grandson of Lahiri Mahasaya (also known as Yogiraj Shyama Charan Lahiri) who is the direct disciple of Mahavatar Babaji. Sri Satya Charan Lahiri is the disciple of Sri Tinkori Lahiri who is the eldest son of Lahiri Mahasaya.
Sri Madabusi Subramaniam has been teaching Kriya Yoga to many seekers across the world right from the time of Sri Satya Charan Lahiri with his blessings.
