Divine Experiences

PDFPrint E-mail

Presented here are some of the personal real-life divine experiences of students who have taken initiation from Sri Madabusi Subramaniam.

Their personal identity is not revealed for obvious reasons.

An important note to the reader from Sri Madabusi Subramaniam: Anything that happens in the mental and physical level is fine. Nothing should be taken as information from divine sources and acted up on. Just receive the experience and let it go. They are all nothing but the release of old 'samskaras' accumulated in our system. The release is for good.

Below are the compilation of various general experiences as observed with different devotees who practice Shaktipath meditation :

  • I felt the divine presence very clearly as brilliant radiating light coming down from above and entering my body through the crown chakra and ajna chakra. I felt my whole body was being filled with divine light and radiating. My eyes automatically moved upwards and focused on the ajna chakra. My gaze was fixed there for quite some time. I saw the whole room was overflowing with bright white light.. All my feelings and emotions just melted and I felt my whole body dissolve – the boundary between me and the room was dissolving and there was just one thing – the brilliant radiating light and I just felt one with the divine light..  It was very blissful.
  • Very soon after sitting for meditation, I began breathing longer and stronger. I felt the divine energy coming down to my heart and then down through my arms and hands. It was so strong that my fingers started twitching. And then I began sobbing loudly and uncontrollably. I was just simply crying without any particular reason. It was spontaneous and I was seeing myself rolling down on the floor and crying.  I think it was almost half an hour passed by and at the end of it, I felt as though a heavy weight has been lifted up from my heart. I felt very light and peaceful.
  • When I was sitting in the meditation for receiving the initiation at my home in Florida, USA, suddenly I started screaming and growling and felt sudden jerks in my body. And I also experienced sudden spontaneous kriyas. I felt the divine force transcending down and entering my body and literally consuming my entire body. It was very tremendous force so great that my body started trembling with energy and force. My entire body started twitching and I almost rolled over the floor. I could see that I was not able to handle the energy coming in and I felt I would almost tear apart. The intensity was so high but I never felt any pain or whatsoever. Then slowly towards the end, the twitching automatically subsided and I saw a brilliant white light in my forehead and temples. I felt my mind getting completely dissolved and I felt as though my whole body was washed away. I saw just light. Nothing else. All my thoughts and emotions and everything went away and I was just filled with light and peace. I was just left with an ecstatic state of mind for hours together. Felt divine bliss within.
  • I felt the divine energy and force flowing through me and I felt as though I was taken over by the divine force. I spontaneously started doing some mudras which I never knew before. My arms just moved up automatically in a rhythmic fashion as if I was dancing. I felt engrossed in divine energy and bliss. It was a joyous experience and I felt in perfect sync with God.
  • I sat for 1/2 hr meditation on Saturday morning in Phoenix, Arizona in USA (to match the time window for India) and for the first 15-20 mins didn't feel much and in fact had some difficulty keeping my mind empty of outside thoughts and focusing on "Om Tat Sat." However, towards the end of the meditation I felt my breathing change such that the time between two breaths kept lengthening. By the end, between 2 breaths was almost equal to the length of one breath itself. Surprisingly, towards the end of the meditation my lower back was sweating - I was not sweating anywhere else on my body and the room I was sitting in was at a comfortable temperature.
  • During Kundalini Awakening, in the beginning, I had very strong movements at the base chakara and after some time they moved towards Manipura Chakara. Most of the time the movements stayed around this area. I observed the movements which were like bubbles, like water flow, and liquidated or busted. All these movements were on the spinal and around especially on the right back side all the way to neck and then moving towards the head. Towards the end, my body was peaceful and I felt very calm. I was very alert for quite a long time after.
  • During the session on 23 Jul, I experienced serenity & for brief moments found that my head made involuntary small side movements.
  • I sat for receiving shaktipath distant initiation in the morning around 05:40AM. I have the tendency to un-awaringly bend my neck down and slouch shoulders after sitting for some time. That day i sat erect the whole time without effort and felt a pressure on my lower back, sort of propelling me to a better posture without any effort and sometime before 6.30 got incense fragrance, ( i had only lit a ghee diya). In some time i felt a tremendous pressure lifting/pulling sensation, as if pulled up by my neck and shoulders and the upper spine being straightened. The stretch felt good as it relaxed my shoulders.
  • I sat for Shaktipath session on July 9, 2010. I had body movements and felt blissful. On July 10, 2010 I had tears coming from eyes in happiness as I was laughing and dancing. I felt at peace and was blissful. It was an action I did not ant to control
  • I sat for receiving the initiation in evening around 09:00PM. Felt some kind of stretch in my back. All of a sudden I felt a jerk. Later again, once more I felt a jerk all over my body. I felt very relaxed both physically and mentally.
  • I sat for receiving initiation on 24th June at my place in Sagar. I felt energy rising and falling , rising and falling and my whole body got very very warm. I wanted to throw up but didn't and was just lying in my bed not talking to anyone for more than an hour after the session.
  • I sat for awakening initiation around 06:00PM. Soon after, I felt tingling effect in my finger tips and felt my whole body warm. After a while, I even started sweating. I felt energy all over my body.
  • I sat with my legs folded on my bed, but I was not able to keep my spine erect for long. I felt mild to and fro movement of my body at the start for a few minutes. Felt very relaxed through out the meditation and after.

Our note: Getting incense fragrance, jerks, feeling movements or feeling sleepy, feeling the tingling effect all over the body are all symptoms of Kundalini awakening. As mentioned before, any automatic movements or experience happening during kundalini awakening should be simply observed without any bias. They are not to be considered as any divine guidance and acted up on. They are all just release of past impressions in the sub-conscious mind.

Below are the visions/experiences of disciple(s), in their own words during other times:

  • I saw a bunch of red flowers rich in honey. And then I saw was a single big white flower with distinct and large petals. The flower slowly turned (around 180 degrees) to face its own stem – as though asking me to “Go Within!”
  • I saw a garland of Tulsi. On top of this garland were other small flowers like jasmine, rose petals, etc. Then all of a sudden I saw a very nice enchanting face (Maya-Mohana roopam) and I felt as though I am seeing Lord Gautama Buddha himself. The face made one full rotation clockwise like some sort of Kriya. When it finished the rotation, a flower fell from the forehead of the face. Then came this thought to my mind: “Everything comes to an end from where it started.”
  • One day, I tried to reach Sri Madabusi Subramaniam ji over phone. But it appeared that he was busy that day and was not able to talk to me over phone. However, on the very same day, late in the evening, I felt lot of energy flowing into me. It was like a prana-pravah (cosmic energy) from divine and felt really blessed. I felt more than happy ever!
  • I took Reiki Grandmaster initiation from Sri Madabusi Subramaniam ji and have been teaching Reiki since then. One of my students requested me to give her Reiki so that she can work for an important project for 17 hours continuously without sleeping. With Sri Madabusi Subramaniam ji's blessings, I gave her a command mentally, not to feel tired till she completes her project work. Later she came and told me that she was fully awake and energetic and finished her work successfully.
  • Just after the meditation and when waking up from sleep, I hear very clearly llot of slokas, veda mantras, vishnu sahasranama stotras, though I myself do not know them.

Our note: Hearing vedic chants or mantras, seeing flowers during meditation, observing movements within the body or visions are all normal symptoms of Kundalini awakening
